WATER BAPTISM

What does it mean to be water baptized?

 

So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.”

A Decision of Faith: Being baptized in water is one of the first steps you take in following Jesus. You don’t just learn about Jesus, but you follow and do the things He did. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are brought into God’s kingdom which means you have decided to follow His example.

 

Water Baptism does not save you. It has no purpose or meaning until after you have decided to follow Jesus and invited Him into your heart and life. It is a very important step in your new Christian life. When you are water baptized, you choose to let Jesus be in charge of your new Holy Spirit filled life. Your water baptism will always be a reminder of your decision to follow Jesus.

 

By being baptized, we were buried with Christ into his death. Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father’s glory. And like Christ we also can live a new life.
